Are You Buying A House Or A Home In Chico, CA

chico real estateWhen reading and/or studying about buying real estate in Chico California, you will very often find the way a property is described with the words “house” and “home” in the property description. However there is a lot of difference between what constitutes a house and what is interpreted as a home in Chico, CA.

A house is where you have a base to stay, to eat, where you sleep, park your car, and where you basically put all your “stuff” including your family. It is a solely a material possession and seen or used an investment.

But a home in Chico, CA is different, it is where you feel comfortable, get to know your surroundings, meet the neighbors and feel safe, and protected. More or less a place you would like to stay at and raise your family or retire whichever the case may be. Ahome in Chico is where you really live and are destined to be.

A house in Chico is something you will buy logically because it makes sense, either the deal is a bargain or it is a stepping stone to what you really want. Whereas a home inChico is an emotional purchase as it is the place you really want to have and are delighted to be in. So when buying real estate in Chico, you have to keep in balance your emotional wants and your logical needs because there will almost certainly be a time when the two could be conflicting

For example, you may want a house In Chico with a special landscape or a beautiful Chico view, but the payments are a lot higher than what you feel comfortable with on a thirty year mortgage on a Chico home.

Now what are you going to do?

Are you going to buy the house anyway and live on a much adjusted smaller budget for the next few years or buy the same type house without the magnificent view and get it for a lot less money. Or will you try other options like a larger down payment byborrowing from your 401K or family, so you get a lower payment. Or you can perhaps get an adjustable rate mortgage with smaller payments instead of the fixed rate loan?Or you could buy a slightly smaller or older house for less and still get the view. These are some the things we really have to consider when buying Chico real estate.

When viewing a house, most people look at it in an emotional way and envision it as a safe, happy, comfortable home. Later, when really thinking about it or when you are ready to make an offer or when filling out a mortgage application, your logic may beginto kick in, instead. That’s when buyer’s remorse starts to appear.

Balancing act

The trick in purchasing Chico real estate is to seriously look at all the angles with both a logical perspective and an emotional perspective. Possibly one could renovate the existing structure over time to make it more desirable for you at a more reasonable price further down the road. If a situation presents itself that requires a trade-off, logic should win the big conflicts, but emotion should still be a factor.

When making the correct choice based on both logic and emotion, you will find yourself owning a warm, happy, safe Chico home – and an investment for the future at a price you are willing to pay.
